The journey has been underway for about a week now. For those who do not know, I lost a very awesome friend to cancer. His name was Jerome Addison but we all called him Prince Charming, because he was exactly that. Still to this day I cry when I am driving my car. You start to think back to all of the times that you could have, should have called and hung out but got busy. Every time I walk past the scarf that I took from him hanging on my coat rack, I just think I am going to crumble. Now I am afraid to wear it because if I lose it I might lose it mentally.
So, I decided to take this healthy food journey for 90 days which will end on my birthday in honor of his life. He was FAR too young but God knows what he is doing, I suppose. I remember telling Jay that I heard about the Gerson Diet and how several people were swearing that they had been cured of cancer. I was going to give him my spare juicer. However, in the 3 weeks time that I mentioned it to him…he went to heaven.
Now, I feel it is my journey to stop putting bad things in my body. Food is where I feel safest, but I do so in a very unhealthy way and I am fully aware of this. So, I want to clean my body out for Prince Charming. I know it is not going to bring him back, but it will help me to live a longer and healthier life. A life where I can use my talent of poetry and my many other business avenues to bring awareness to finding a cure for cancer. I want to help his mother do this in Jerome’s name.
The party began on 10/10/13. I started following the Gerson Diet which is:
8am- Orange juice
9am- Green juice ( Swiss chard, romaine lettuce, young beet tops, watercrest, ¼ bell pepper, endive, escarole, red cabbage, and 1 medium apple)
9:30- carrot-apple ( 3 carrots & 1 apple)
10am- carrot- apple (3 carrots & 1 apple)
11am- Carrot juice ( 8 oz)
Noon- Green juice ( Swiss chard, romaine lettuce, young beet tops, watercrest, ¼ bell pepper, endive, escarole, red cabbage, and 1 medium apple)
1pm- carrot-apple ( 3 carrots & 1 apple)
2pm- Green juice ( Swiss chard, romaine lettuce, young beet tops, watercrest, ¼ bell pepper, endive, escarole, red cabbage, and 1 medium apple)
3pm- Carrot juice ( 8 oz)
4pm- Carrot juice ( 8 oz)
5pm- carrot-apple ( 3 carrots & 1 apple)
6pm- carrot-apple ( 3 carrots & 1 apple)
7pm- Green juice ( Swiss chard, romaine lettuce, young beet tops, watercrest, ¼ bell pepper, endive, escarole, red cabbage, and 1 medium apple)
Yes, it is a BUNCH of juicing. However, it is not as bad as it seems. The worst part if just having to clean your juicer after every time you juice. By the time you clean it is about time to juice again. lol. I am furloughed at the moment, thanks to Congress, so juicing from home is very easy. Once I return to work, I will take my spare juicer to work and see how successful I can be with juicing at work.
I am allowed one vegetarian meal a day comprised of solid foods. This way I won’t go crazy. Also, if I am in a rush, as long as what I put in my body is a fruit or vegetable then I won’t feel so bad.
My measurements on 10/10 were:
222.5 lbs
Body Fat: 72.6 lbs or 32.7%
Bone Mass: 8.5
Body Water: 49.1
BMI: 34.1
My waist: 42.5 ( across belly button) and 44.5 (pouch)
Hips: 46.5
L Thigh: 29in
R Thigh: 28 in
Calves: 17.5
Around chest: 40 in on top and 38.5 under Ribcage
Today I weigh 217.5. That is a total of 5 pounds lost in 6 days. Not bad. I haven’t been strict with just juicing the past 6 days. I have had solid foods, but they were healthy. Baby steps. But I think I am headed in the right direction. I think I will do my measurements at the 30, 60, and 90 day marks. Just so I don’t get too caught up in the numbers.
Well… let me go make a carrot and apple juice. It is very delicious.
This drink’s for you Prince Charming.
